Research update: Microwaving Nutrients, Juice and Sugary Drinks

Fresh Start Monday NewsletterChef Judy

Dear Usman,

Are you up-to-date with the latest research about nutrition and health? This week, I want to point you to two wonderful resources that offer insight into the latest developments in the world of health. Plus, one post even has a handout set that you can use!

The first post, Fruit Juice: As Bad as Sugary Drinks?, offers insight into the latest research on fruit juice and obesity. Check out this review of the newest studies and browse the links that will take you to a more detailed look at each one.

The second post, Microwaving Nutrients, answers the question "Is there anything new out there about nutrition and microwave cooking?" Let Cheryle Jones Syracuse, MS, Professor Emeritus at The Ohio State University, walk you through the basics of nutrient retention and heat-sensitive compounds. Oh, and the best part? This post also features a 2-page handout with strategies for using a microwave to prepare healthful meals.

Hope this is helpful!
