Cheryle Jones Syracuse, MS: Guidelines for Sprouts

Fresh Start Monday NewsletterChef Judy

Hi Usman!

Did you know that Cheryle Jones Syracuse, MS, Professor Emeritus at The Ohio State University, recently taught a food safety class for restaurant managers?

Well, she did, and in preparing for that class, Cheryle learned some surprising things. Including the link between foodborne illness and sprouts.

Did you know that over the past 20 years, sprouted seeds have been associated with at least 55 foodborne illness outbreaks, with more than 15,000 people getting sick? There's lots more information like this, along with strategies for steering clear of foodborne illness, and it's all in the post Sprouts for Health? Check it out!

Did I mention that there's a new handout about sprouts in that post? Because there is!

Best,
