Weight Stigma Awareness Week | By Laura Dolson | I just heard about Weight Stigma Awareness Week, and although I have to admit that I know very little about what the people who founded it actually do, I generally think it's a good idea to talk about this issue. Being overweight at any age (but possibly particularly in children) will often draw teasing and bullying. Worse, making fun of someone's weight is still generally considered fair game, with some people even claiming that they are trying to help the overweight person. It does NOT help! Let's speak up against this form of bullying that affects so many of us. | |
