Shop Smart: A New Sodium Chart

Good morning Usman!

You already know that sodium consumption is a serious health issue. It's imperative that most Americans reduce their sodium intake, but of course that's easier said than done.

Sodium is hiding everywhere. Shocking amounts of it are in restaurant and frozen foods, while many packaged and canned foods have tons of sodium as well. The first step towards reducing sodium intake is learning about which foods have what levels of sodium.

That's where my new chart comes in. In the post Sodium and American Eating Habits, I feature a chart that compares various versions of the top 3 sources of sodium in American eating patterns, exploring milligrams of sodium per serving, % daily value for sodium, and more! The chart highlights healthful alternatives and points out huge sources of hidden sodium. Take a look and let me know what you think!

Have a great day,

PS: Members can access a 5-step sodium reduction guide in the post 5 Top Tips to Reduce Sodium Intake, which goes nicely with the sodium chart I've featured today. And for more great resources, check out this week's Nutrition Nuggets!
