Babies born more than thirteen weeks prematurely run a serious risk of Autism Spectrum Disorder, according to a new study from Karolinska University Hospital in Sweden. The study looked at more than 100 infants that were born before the third trimester, and found that almost 30 percent of them developed symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorders. About 1 in 68 children are identified with ASD in the US, a 30 percent increase in the last two years, but the condition is almost five times more common among boys. |
