Holiday Parties Can Be Fun AND Low-Carb!

This is the time of year when people start leaving my site in droves, only to return on January 1st.  I guess the thinking is that "no one wants to diet in December".  But that makes the assumption that we can't have fun and stable blood sugar both.  I just don't agree!  For one thing, battling the inevitable cravings from eating too much carb is NOT fun!  Have a happy, fun, healthy week!  Laura

Hanukkah without the Carbs (Low-Carb Latkes)
I went to a Hanukkah party last night, and it was pretty easy.  My friend always makes gravlax (cured salmon) and puts out cream cheese, capers, red onion, and cucumber rounds.  Of course, she puts out bagels, too, put who needs that when you have all the rest of those yummy flavors?  It was easy to choose low-carb foods from her buffet.  The only kicker is that she makes sure she has some gluten-free potato latkes for me and another GF person, so what I do is to have a small one. I have found that eating a small amount of a traditional holiday food once a year does not cause problems for me. At home, I would make the ones I linked to.  Tip:  I bring a bottle of dry white wine I know to be low in sugar to contribute to the party.
