| Liking sweet foods is natural -- babies prefer sweet foods, and breast milk is quite sweet. But too much "sweet" can get us into big trouble as we grow out of babyhood. Food companies know that adding sugar to foods helps sell more, which is probably why foods like Corn Flakes have had more and more sugar added over the years. Are sugar substitutes better? Are natural ones better than those created in the lab? Maybe. In some ways. But they may have their own problems, and we don't have all the answers yet.
