Why is it so hard to exercise? | "Why is it so hard to exercise?" This is a question I get quite a bit from the people I work with and there's never an easy answer. Today, my answer might be: Because is eleventy billion degrees below zero, the temperature at which exercise motivation freezes and the only way to unfreeze it without permanent damage is to relocate it immediately to a tropical beach near the equator until April. But that's just today, of course. Tomorrow's answer? Could be totally different. | | Why is it so hard for me to exercise? | For those of us who've been around for awhile - say, 40 or 50 years - we've grown up with the idea that exercise is supposed to be hard. And, yes, if you want to lose weight, some of your workouts should be challenging...but not all of them. | | | Beat Exercise Boredom | One reason it's so hard to exercise is because it's boring to workout inside for weeks on end. So, how can you spice up your workouts? Do them somewhere else like, say, the tropics. Or just use the lame ideas I'm giving you in this article. | | | 5 Ways to Make Workouts More Fun | Aside from getting rid of boredom, you also want to add a little fun to your workouts. Sometimes that's just as simple as trying something completely different. | | | Challenge Yourself With Strength Training | If you really want to get out of that rut, try changing up your strength training workouts and adding a little challenge. Can you use heavier weights? Try new exercises? Or maybe you could try a whole different type of equipment like a kettlebell or resistance band?
