| It was 19 years ago this month that a group of scrappy political sex shop owners came together to celebrate May as a National Masturbation Month. They had a logo, a mission, and even a feature event: the Masturbate-a-Thon. I'm not sure if you were planning to celebrate. But as I was preparing for four weeks of wall to wall coverage (I'm sorry, that sounds dirty in this context but I tried a bunch of other ways of saying it and they sounded even dirtier) I began to feel nostalgic, not only for the Masturbation Months of years past but for my own history. And it occurred to me that while we are often called on to remember our sexual pasts, that rarely includes our solo sex lives. I thought I'd change that this month by offering a personal (and private) masturbation history questionnaire. It's completely voluntary and, just like with masturbation, it's meant only for you. You know, unless you choose to share. Happy May! ~ Cory |
