And the operative word is "observe." Yes, it's the unofficial start of summer, a three-day weekend and a time to hit the road and enjoy backyard barbecues with family and friends. But it's also important to keep in mind what Memorial Day really is--a day to remember our soldiers' sacrifices and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives for our country.
