 There has been a ton of confusion in recent years about saturated fats in our diets.  For a long time we were assured that they were associated with heart disease and other bad health outcomes.  But the research wasn't bearing that out - a lot of them time, people who ate a lot of saturated fat didn't seem to have worse outcomes.  This latest research may have the answer - the problematic fats are in the blood, not the diet....because our bodies make them...from carbohydrate!  Also, don't be one of those people who doesn't eat enough fiber just because you're cutting carbs, and a new product review.  Have a happy and healthy week!  Laura

Eat More Carb....Surprise! More Bad Fat in Your Blood!

 This is absolutely fascinating research where people were given diets with increasing amounts of carbohydrate and less saturated fats, and carefully monitored.  The more carb and less fat they ate, the more bad fats their bodies made.


A Low-Fat Diet is a High-Glucose Diet

This goes along with the new research.  A reader who was doing great on a low-carb paleo approach was confronted by an article in The Daily Beast advocating a very low-fat diet.  It's often difficult when the people around you are telling you that you are eating in an unhealthy way.  See also: What Not to Say to Someone on a Low-Carb Diet (and how to respond when they do).
