 When I was a kid, I believed in all kinds of myths.  Like the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus and that my mom has eyes in the back of her head...wait, that one is actually true.  Being a grown up doesn't mean you suddenly become immune to those kinds of myths, only they don't have to do with secretive beings who bring us money and toys.

Many of the myths we subscribe to have something to do with exercise and weight loss - The myth of the fat burning zone, for example, or the myth that strength training will make women big and bulky.  One of our favorite myths, and the one I most wish were true, is the myth of spot reduction and the idea that we can simply sculpt and shape our bodies with specific exercises...which we can't.

Sigh.  It's just not fair.
