From Ann Pizer, your Guide to Yoga

The calendar says it's almost spring, even if the thermometer doesn't agree. Try warming yourself from the inside out with some spring yoga. Maybe it'll be enough to banish this long winter for good.

Spring Yoga Routine

When spring rolls around, it often brings on the urge to be more active, shaking off several months of hibernation and lethargy after the winter. Standing poses and twists figure into this routine, which is intended to warm and invigorate your body.

Check The Heat Index

I updated my Hot Yoga Heat Index to include Evolation Yoga, a fast-growing chain of yoga studios co-founded by a former Bikram senior teacher. If you follow Bikram's ongoing series of legal disputes over copyright, you may remember Evolation as the studio that won the right to teach Bikram's series.

Yoga Stretches for Runners

Pose of The Week: Garland Pose - Malasana
As spring creeps in, I find I can no longer ignore the dry, brown wasteland in my backyard. It's time to start clearing out the old and making way for the new. Which means it's time for malasana, or, as I like to call it, squatting in the garden pose. (My apologies to those of you still dealing with arctic tundra. May your spring come soon!)
