But there are other ways that a low-carb diet could help, including affecting how genes that control aging express themselves. | | | | | Could Soda Shorten Our LIves? | Have you ever heard of a telomere? It's a little endcap on our chromosomes that protects them from damage. It turns out that as we age they get shorter, and then eventually can't protect the chromosomes any more. But there are things we can do to slow down or speed up this process! A study from last year showed that drinking sugar-sweetened soda could speed up the aging in our cells.
