From Ann Pizer, your Guide to Yoga
No single yoga sequence is going to suit the needs of every student, so if you're putting together some poses for home practice, why not tailor it yourself? I'm giving you the building blocks with these 10 yoga workouts for beginners. They're broken down into three categories: warm up, expand your routine, and cool down. Choose a single workout on days when you're short on time or mix and match as necessary when you want a longer session.

10 Yoga Workouts for Beginners
One of the most challenging things about doing yoga at home is figuring out how to sequence poses. After you take a lot of classes, you may start to notice that there are certain patterns that teachers follow repeatedly, but beginners often need a little help. That's why we're here! These ten short sequences are all appropriate for new yoga students.

Hip Openers
When my teacher asks for requests, hip openers are usually high on everyone's list. This series of seated poses really gets in there. Best to do these when your body is already warm.

Pose of the Week - Supine Spinal Twist
If you don't have the time or the inclination for our full cool-down sequence at the end of your practice, at least treat yourself to a supine twist. There are a number of different things you can do with your legs here, but the basic idea remains the same. Legs go to one side, head turns to the opposite side, both shoulders ground toward the mat and the spine unwinds.
