From Ann Pizer, your Guide to Yoga

Yoga props such as straps, blocks, and blankets make many poses more accessible while allowing us to maintain good alignment. Different types of yoga have different attitudes toward the use of props, but if they are available in the venue where you practice, I encourage you to use them or bring your own.

YogaSphere Strap System
I just got the chance to try out this new strapping system which makes use of a set of fixed circular straps in place of an adjustable strap. See what I thought.

Yoga Props Illustrated
A visual guide to the use of basic yoga props. When trying to decide how to use props, I like to think of them as arm extenders or sometimes floor raisers. If there is a pose when it seems like it would be helpful to have longer arms or a higher floor, use a prop.

Savasana Props
One of my favorite ways to use props is to create a really relaxing, supportive savasana. Here's how.

Why Alignment Matters
Good alignment isn't about making a pose look pretty. It's about doing postures in the safest possible way for our bodies, which often means supporting healthy joints.
