Can People with Alzheimer's Consent to Sex?
In Iowa, a 78 year-old man charged with sexually abusing his wife who had Alzheimer's was recently acquitted, but the question of consent in dementia remains. As he picks up the pieces of his life, facilities nation-wide are considering how best to balance the need to protect vulnerable people who have dementia and yet honor theit right to engage in relationships with other.
