About

The fall marathon season is really hitting its stride, with its pinnacle running event this Sunday, November 3 — the ING New York City Marathon. Let's learn more about the world's largest marathon and the crazy people who actually think it's fun to run all those miles.

A Marathon Is How Far!?
For the running community, this year's race is special for many reasons. It should mark a return to normalcy, after the cancellation of last year's NYC Marathon due to Superstorm Sandy and the devastating events at the Boston Marathon. Plus, we hear Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson is running. So, well, hmm, there's that. How do you think she'll measure up against these other celebrity marathoners?

'You Think You're Tired? Try Holding This Sign!'
Another reason we love the NYC Marathon? You get to see New Yorkers actually be nice to one another and cheer for total strangers! Marathon spectating requires an endurance all its own — and some funny words of encouragement, too.
