About

If you're anything like me, this winter did a real number on you—and your home. My apartment is currently buried under a mountain of winter coats, cozy blankets and wet-weather boots ... and so ready for a refresh. And luckily, you don't need a gigantic budget (or Martha Stewart as a relative) to give your home a major boost for the spring; all you need is a little bit of creativity and some fresh decor ideas from our brilliant About Home Experts.

Home Trends We Love
Make like a tree and branch out (anyone? anyone?) from the flowery, pastel-y decorations this season. There are so many accessible decor trends this year—my personal favorites are super-stylized bar carts and shiny brass accents in the kitchen—that you can buy or easily DIY. Stay up to date on home trends by following our Interior Decorating Experts' Sunday Gazette, a weekly roundup of their favorite design tricks, tips and trends, or by connecting with About Home on its brand, spankin' new Pinterest boards.

Decorating with Color
Adding pops of color to your home is a spring decorating no-brainer—and one of the easiest ways to give your space a major refresh. But the most popular shades for this season just might surprise you! Whether you opt for dramatic, moody shades (yes, they totally work year-round), hop on the Radiant Orchid bandwagon or stick to a beautifully coordinated neutral palette, we've got plenty of ways to amp up the color wattage in your home.

Learn Your Design History
When you add a new element, accessory or design to your home, do you ever think about its history or origins? It's pretty amazing to learn how modern day home decor evolved over time, and where certain trends and ideas originated. So, I know all of you design nerds will love our Interior Decorating Experts' appropriately titled feature Design Geek, where you'll learn about Boucherouite rugs, Kuba cloth and other home items with some history.
