The Problems with Processed Foods

 What are processed foods anyway?  Why should we stay away from them?  Here are some reasons, and a couple of great books on the subject that I recommend.  Of course, the food industry isn't taking all this lying down: see The Food Industry Fights Back with some amusing videos about how good processed food is for us, and how carrots are really processed foods.

Avoid the College Carb Trap

 I first wrote this 5 years ago when my daughter was heading off to college.  Now she's about to start her second year of graduate school, where she is finding the carb trap to be just as pervasive.  Happily, she now has her own kitchen, which makes things a lot easier.
